SAFE LABOUR IS THE RIGHT OF EVERY PERSON

“Azersun Holding” that conducted a number of events within the Safe Labour and Healthy Workplace Project participated in the Conference dedicated to the Global Labour Protection Day of April 28th. The Conference was organized in the Cultural Center of the Group of Companies.

Representatives of different companies took part in the Conference organized by the Labour Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The speakers talked about the actions undertaken in the entities on the protection of labour and expressed their views on the topic. 

It must be noted that “Azersun Holding” strictly follows the issues related to the protection of labour and takes relevant measures in this direction.  Rahmi Yashar, the Coordinator of the Group of Companies, also touched upon this issue in his speech and informed the participants about the on-going project on safe labour and healthy workplace.

He stated that “Azersun Holding”, along with production of high-quality items, provides its employees with the work environment meeting the international standards. Provision of the employees of the plants and enterprises of the Group of Companies the special hygienic work uniform in accordance with the work environment, undertaking of necessary safety measures in the enterprises and etc., are among the measures taken in relation with the protection of labour. 

Then the main indicators of the activity of the State Labour Inspectorate were announced in the event.

Note that the basis for the labour protection in Azerbaijan is Article 35 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, i.e the provision that “everyone has the right to work in safe and healthy environment. The Labour Code of the country widely covers the main principles of 57 Conventions of the International labour Organization related to the main worker rights that Azerbaijan is signatory to.

33 out of 317 articles of the Labour Code covers namely the norms, regulations and principles of the labour protection, the legal, organizational, technical and financial provision issues and are dedicated to the identification of responsibilities of employers on ensuring of healthy and safe work environment for employees.  Azerbaijan has formed a comprehensive legislative framework on labour protection and the State labour Inspectorate has been established in 1997 for provision of the State control over ensuring of labour rights of citizens. 18 regional branches of the Inspectorate are operating country-wide.

Thank to the special attention and care of the Minister of Labour and Social Protection Mr. Fizuli Alekberov  the activities of the State Labour Inspectorate and its regional branches have been improved, the focused measures have been taken in the direction of strengthening of the State control over the implementation of the labour legislation in the fields. These measures made a positive turn in provision of worker rights and significant achivements have been made.
