SUGAR HOLIDAY ON IMISHLY REGION

In July, in the Imishly region, the Sugar Holiday was taking place and the Imishly sugar plant, the leading producer of sugar in Azerbaijan, gathered together all the farmers involved in sugar-beet cultivation. The farmers, together with the main media representatives were invited to the celebrations.
The opening session was a meeting between the farmers and the executive of the plant. A speech was given by the leading agronomist Radjab Orujev. Following on the meeting handed over to the director of the Imishly sugar plant, Ismail Muslimzade. The director welcomed the participants and wished the landlords much success in their businesses. Finally, the meeting welcomed the director of ASHIB AGRO LTD, Salih Demir bey and other landlords of the area.
The landlord’s attention was given to the fact that the sugar plant is the youngest technical-food plant in sowing turnover and sowing of sugar beet. As such, special care and attention is paid to the business by the president of Azersun Holdings, Abdolbari Goozal and together with ASHIB AGRO Ltd., gives financial assistance to the landowners. Such assistance helps to improve their scientific and practical work and enhance their education in agronomy. In the previous two years, ASHIB AGRO Ltd., with the aim of conducting intensive agro technical works on sugar beet sowing, has purchased agricultural machinery and ancillary equipment, with high technical specifications to the value of over 2 million manat. The majority of the machines are making their first appearance in Azerbaijan.
“To maintain a high quality product in sowing, it is necessary to use top quality seeds, which suit the climate conditions of the region and are robust in the face of different diseases and harmful insects” says Rajab Orujev.
He added that in this regard, a business relationship was forged with such famous seed selection centers like Germany’s KVS, Sweden’s Ses Vanderhovis and the Dutch Singenta. He also noted that the leading specialists from those companies periodically visited the Imishli Sugar plant, making ‘phenological’ observations, giving scientific and practical advice and holding seminars for landlords and representatives of the regions.
One of the organized events was the screening of an educational movie about sugar beet. Following the screening, those who had attended, were given a trip to the Imishli Sugar Plant, acquainting them with the process of production. To celebrate the occasion the farmers who give a large volume of crops to the plant, received sugar gifts in 500, 400 and 300 kilo. The other farmers were not forgotten and received racks with sugar in 100 kilo. Thus, in total 182 farmers shared in a gift of 20 tons of sugar.
As the proceedings drew to a close, the representatives of the media attended session involving water purification and oil and ethyl alcohol extraction from the territory of the factory. These same representatives also attended the 3,400 ha site in the Bilasuvar region. The leading agronomist, Rajab Orujev presented comprehensive information about sugar beet, tomatoes, corn, soy beans, sunflowers and others, which grow in this region. The final act was for the media representatives all to be given presents.
