"By giving blood, you give life to others"

Blood is a part of a human organism and is considered as one of the main factors for health of organism. In relation to this, "Azersun holding" and its establishments conducted a blood giving action in order to help those who suffer from Thalassemia.

Ministry of Health conducted a cooperated blood giving action with "Azersun Holding" Group of Companies.

The purpose of actions conducted in Cultural Center by "Azersun Holding" on 08.05.2007 was to help blood bank and those who suffer from thalassemia.

Blood is a part of a human organism and is the main factors for health of organism. Those who lose their blood during accidents and wars, or have genetic anemia can only live owing to the blood of their homogenous ones. That's why blood reserve is important at all times. For this reason, almost all countries have their blood bank.

Blood bank has socially strategic importance for the country during either peace or wartime. This issue is especially actual and important for our country in state of martial law.

Another important level of population in need of blood is those who suffer from thalassemia. These patients need blood transfer once or twice a week in order to lead a normal life. Average level of thalassemia carriers in Azerbaijan is equal to 8 percent, which means that one in twelve people of populations are carriers of pathological (defective) genes.

The event organized considering these factors with participation of Azad Hajiyev, director of the Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology and a representative of Ministry of Health, and Abdorbari Goozal, president of "Azersun Holding" Group of Companies started with a press conference.

First of all, the floor was given to Abdolbari Goozal, the president of the group of companies. He greeted the participant and continued his speech: "I am very happy on behalf of "Azersun Holding" for our participation in this social activity. One Persian poet said following: "sons of men are organs, parts of each other, i.e. they are of one stone, made from same place".

In addition to this, if a man feels discomfort in one organ, then this discomfort affects other organs. Sometimes news in the press affects people. The positive part of it is, we learn, we are informed of events, and we reform ourselves by helping the humanity. The events we watch on television programs can happen anywhere on this earth, Africa, Irag etc. When these events happen, we watch murders, death, bombing and it affects us negatively. It shows that, we are all from same origin and we must help each other. There are ill people in our country and our soldiers get wounded.

By giving blood we serve humanity

Azerbaijani soldiers must be strong, their arms must be strong for defense, not for encroachment, I do not approve of that. I am wishing of so much to free our lands, I do not need any more than that. This is my personal opinion. They must have the strength to defend themselves. They must have investment, plants and factories. The storages must be full of food, at the same time there must be blood in the blood bank. This event is a very meaningful event and it bears great importance. We are helping the humanity by this, we are helping each-other. This engrosses us in thoughts. Giving blood is a holy job. Generally, everyone is integrated with their organisms and is very defensive of their blood. But if they think that they are saving others by giving blood, it will instigate them to help others.

This initiative of "Azersun Holding" gladdens me. On the other hand, so many people are working with us. Of course, it is voluntary work and no one must be forced. I believe that, when I give blood, many will understand that giving blood is useful, meaningful and important. I am sure that, many love me. I receive letters from "Azersun Holding", and letters come from other places, and people share their philosophy with and principals with me. I hope that, by giving blood we encourage each other to do good things. It's not mandatory, everyone should be voluntary. Force is never an option. Everything must be done by agreement, with mutual understanding.

As "Azersun Holding" our desire, is that people would feel the democratic condition in today's world, but they also must be responsible. But I think that, people with whom we share our thoughts at "Azersun Holding" have a very serious approach to this matter. We will probably repeat this every year. When we give blood, our blood cleans; we help those who need blood, our blood refills and this action bears social importance.

We provide a feeling of security for those who protect out country and provide our patients with blood. Think that 4-5 thousands of people are led by "Azersun Holding", and I wish that you will instigate others to do this good deed. Allah will never leave us in trouble. We must always choose the good path" and he answered the questions that interested the journalists.

Then the floor was given to Azad Hajiyev, the representative of Ministry of Health, director of Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology. Mr. Azad expressed his deep gratitude to "Azersun Holding" for this initiative and stressed significant importance of this issue. Afterwards he stated that blood can only be obtained from donors. He also stressed that, besides any person can feel a need in blood. Azad Hajiyev stated that May 8th is the Genetic Anemia and Thalassemia Day and this year we are going to make the 20th anniversary of this day.

Azad Hajiyev stated that purpose of conduction such actions is to provide those who need blood with blood and said that thalassemia patients need blood at least once or twice a month. Such patients exist in every country. He informed that a law related to increase of blood service to a high level was passed and this program was being carried out since last year.

After the press conference, the blood giving action started with the president of Group of Companies Abdolbari Goozal.

Blood giving actions was organized required all obeying hygienic conditions, necessary conditions were created in order to restore the strength of blood givers.

The action will continue in "Azesun Holding" group of companies that has almost four thousand employees until the end of May.

The main goal of "Azersun Holding" Group of Companies that has been active in Azerbaijan for a long time is economical and social development of Azerbaijan. By giving new establishments for exploitation in regions and capital, "Azersun Holding" Group of Companies is playing an important role in improving prosperity of the population, as well as demonstrating the economical potential of the country.

Being an event of this level, "By Giving Blood You Give Life to Others" actions demonstrates that the activities of "Azersun Holding" Group of Companies is not limited to production of food provisions, but that they actively participate in social life.
