COMPANY OVERVIEW
Azersun Farming Co. was established in 2006. The company owns and manages several enterprises involved in harvesting, cultivating and processing of a wide range of agricultural products.
The company is currently engaged in the irrigation project in the Bilasuvar region where it has launched the irrigation system to cover a total area of 3400 hectares. At present the project maintains 1000 hectares of cropped land during spring and autumn planting seasons using the irrigation system provided by Valmond International, a US-based company. The main products to be cropped in the land include beetroot, soya, tomatoes, barley, green peas, sweetcorn etc
The company expects to extend the irrigation facilities to the remaining part of the land in the future years and following the successful completion of the land reform envisages a massive planting of tomatoes, beetroot, whole-grains in the region.
The total capital the company has allocated for the area amounts to 4, 300, 000 AZN this year with the circulating capital of 850, 000 AZN. The state of the art machine tools allocated for the project have previously been widely used in the USA over the recent years. Additionally, the project will employ locally produced machinery as well as the equipment produced in Turkey. The seeds used for harvesting will initially pass a selection process for their quality.
The company aims to expand the processing facilities and build up a separate processing unit in the coming years.
Azersun Farming Co. has a previous successful record of introducing a similar project in the Beylagan region on the site of 200 hectares cropped for green peas, sweet corn, barley and a wide range of vegetables. This project used the state of the art sprinkling facilities provided by Valmond International. At the same time, all of the machine tools, including tractors have been supplied by John Deer, an established leader in the US farming technologies industry. The investment in the project in 2006 reached 2,000,000 USD.
Since 2006 the factory activities have expanded to include the hazelnut industry as well. Azersun Farming Co. focuses primarily on the sales activities of hazelnuts growing in the neighbouring regions. The company will also introduce special discount-based leasing services over the next years.
